Joy Agness is a certified Preston Bailey Wedding & Event Designer with accreditation from Lovegevity Wedding Planning Institute. (LWPI) and holds a Wedding Planning Diploma. Joy has over 25 years of experience in the Wedding & Event Planning industry. She was called on to host the annual Reggae Carnival Fest, a multicultural music festival featuring international artistes and promoters in South Florida.
Joy has also been called on by other planners in the industry to assist and manage large scale events. She is a preferred vendor at numerous venues and premiere wedding affiliated firms.
Joy's latest project is Love n Sunshine Destination Wedding Conference, a destination wedding planning conference for industry professionals. In 2011, at the Biz Bash Florida Expo & Awards, Joy won Fan Favorite in the tabletop design competition and exhibition. She was inducted into the Cambridge WHO's WHO for outstanding Executives, Professionals and Entrepreneurs in 2008 and has been inducted in the Strathmores WHO's WHO Worldwide for exemplary professionals in 2012.
With a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Guyana, not only is she the go to wedding planner, she is a very prolific speaker often called on to speak at various events and conferences, on topics such as entrepreneurship, weddings, and etiquette.
She is also a HIV/AIDS counsellor. She is currently an Executive Board member of the Greater Miami Wedding & Event Planners group, Focus Miami. Joy is also associated with the Association for Wedding Planners International (AFWPI); International Special Events Society (ISES) Association of Bridal Consultants (ABC) Meeting Professionals International (MPI) and the National Association of Wedding Planners (NAWP).
Joy Agness is a Wedding & Event Planning Professor at the Miami Dade and Broward Colleges. She established the Joy Agness Institute an educational partnership with Miami Dade College, where she does an extraordinary job of training “Polished, Poised, Professionals”. She has written the book “Wedding & Event Planning 101” and plans to pen her next book focusing on the Wedding Planning Industry and events she has done over the years.
